Taking a break from Raven. I haven't done random illustration in a while. Nor have I done any art of Fairietails, so here's Cattail! She kind of lost her shoes... anyway, here's the 2003 version: [link]
I've gotten better at capturing her more mischievious personality.  Pencil sketch painted over with openCanvas. Cattail belongs to me. Daily DeviationGiven 2007-05-19. Cattail by *-achiru- is such a wonderful painting. The perspective is great, and gives you an inside look into this little faerie's world. I'm really loving the texturing and colouring done on this character; it's very professional, clean and beautiful. Great digital and traditional combination! We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. The lighting here actually makes sense, and the colours you chose this time are so much more realistic.
I also like the pose and the way she looks. But the thing I love best about this picture is the sense of perspective, and angle in it. I simply adore the way you blurred the extreme foreground, how it's out of focus, how you can see slightly through it.
And the way you intricatly detailed Cattail, leaving the background more roughly painted x3
